Much like an architect or urban planner, my work starts with a foundation. Beginning with the physical process, I incorporate two related mediums: painting and digital photography. Much like reality, my work is about layers and solving visual complexities. Each area, each brushstroke is planned and thought out in terms of the academics of design. This then intertwines with the manipulation of my digital photos.

Then there is the narrative or the part that tells a story. Where it begins is not always the same. Sometimes it's created in the paint, other times the photo. When the story is shaped in the paint, it seems to be more abstract. When it revolves around the photo, it can be representational. This is due to the nature of the medias. At times one seems to be more significant than the other. This is a misapprehension. It works collectively. However, the building of layers, still remains the keystone to the message as well as the physical appearence of my work.

Working with computor programs such as Flash allows me to combine both medias, while allowing a third to be used as a vehical of presentation. It adds a new dimention to the painting and photography, as well as bringing it to a new level. The story telling process becomes more intricate. Things start to exist on a multi-layerd level.

Concerning the Flash animations, throughout my life, all of my work has existed in reality. It is an interesting transition to have it exist mostly in a virtual realm rather than it being tangible.

The main influence in my work is my environment. Born and raised in Brooklyn, my urban influence has indeed added an "edge" to my work. Right now I am allowing my present home (which is rural) to inspire me.
